Channel details
BeardMeatsFood is the brainchild of Adam Moran. Born on July 8, 1985, this Leeds native swapped his banking career for a life of competitive eating. A qualified personal trainer, Moran claims that his body fat ratio improved over five years due to his unique combination of competitive eating and two hours of daily weight training.
Moran's first eating challenge was around 2014-2015. It was a follow-up to a diet that brought his body fat down to 8%. The success of this challenge led to the birth of the BeardMeatsFood YouTube channel in 2015. By 2017, Moran was competing professionally.
In 2016, Moran's unique skills landed him a job as a food tester. The owner of an American-style diner chain in Yorkshire took out £1 million in insurance on Moran's stomach and tastebuds. Moran also competed in Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest in 2019 and placed 10th.
The BeardMeatsFood channel features Moran traveling around the UK and other parts of Europe, the US, and Canada. He visits restaurants or other establishments that offer food challenges. Moran frequently chats with other patrons and waiting staff during these challenges. He often apologizes for his messy eating and provides a sarcastic voiceover commentary track.
Despite the size of the challenges, Moran often orders a dessert once he has finished. He admits a dislike towards mushrooms and Brussels sprouts, but it's not a deal breaker. He does actively dislike spicy food. Moran often gets Diet Coke with his meals. He claims the carbonation of the soft drink helps get some of the trapped air out of the stomach, and the sweetness helps break up the monotony of the savory flavor.
Moran co-hosts the "Breaking Beard" podcast with Josh Gudgeon. This podcast is also available on YouTube in video format. Starting in 2020, Moran has released a song every December. The lyrics of a pop-punk song are rewritten with a food theme. All the proceeds from the sales of downloads and streaming royalties are donated to the Stroke Association. This cause is close to him since his father's death from a stroke.
