Channel details
Dougherty Dozen is a family of 14 living in New York. The creators, Joshua and Alicia Dougherty, decided to adopt children from foster care after nine years of infertility. They adopted Alex in 2011 when he was 5-years-old. Six days later, they found out they were pregnant with Zoey. When Zoey had just turned 1, they were asked if they could adopt James from Foster Care. He was 6-years-old. Two weeks after James moved in, they found out they were pregnant with Dash.
The next year, they were asked to take foster care placement of Jason and Jordan “for 5 days”. Well, 5 days turned into Forever and they eventually adopted the twins. They gave birth to Bodhi Blaze in 2016, and Harlee Quinton in 2018. The next year, they heard about a sibling group in a Residential Treatment Facility that were being split apart for adoptions. They advocated to keep them together and be their adoptive family in order for that to happen. They adopted Bree and Patrick in 2019. They were 8 and 11 years old at the time. And then in the Spring of 2022, they were asked to take Kinship Placement of Dayshawn, and in 2023, they were granted Permanent Custody by the courts.
The Dougherty Dozen YouTube channel has accumulated over 1.2 billion views, averaging 150,000 views per day. They get more than 63 million monthly views on their YouTube channel and make around $22 thousand to $30 thousand from YouTube. The channel joined YouTube in February 2020.
The Dougherty Dozen is known for their lavish spending and questionable parenting choices. The channel features Alicia's oversharing of her children's personal and medical information. The video also explores the impact of Alicia's jokes and insults about her children, her attitude toward alcohol, and her lack of discretion and care in safeguarding her children's privacy and well-being.
The family lives outside Rochester, NY. They met in college where they both got their teaching degrees, and married soon after graduation in 2003. Their official website is doughterydozen.com. The family motto is “There’s Always Room For One More!”.
